02 · Pool maintenance

Look after more than the surface.

Clear water is one part of pool care. Ongoing maintenance also means understanding the equipment, noticing changes and agreeing a sensible routine.

A routine shaped around your pool

No two pools are looked after in quite the same way. Size, surroundings, equipment and how often the pool is used all change what a sensible routine looks like.

Maintenance starts with an assessment of the pool and its equipment. From there, the routine, its frequency and what each visit covers are agreed and written down. The routine can be revisited as the pool or the season changes.

This page explains the service, not the chemistry. Water treatment needs and quantities depend on the individual pool and are a matter for a qualified provider on site.

Changes worth mentioning

You don’t need to know the cause. Describing what changed, and when, is the most useful thing you can do.

  • The water looks differentColour, clarity or surface film that has changed since you last noticed.
  • More debris than usualA change in how quickly leaves or dirt collect.
  • Equipment sounds differentA new noise, or a familiar one that has stopped.
  • A message on a displayAnything you can read safely from a normal position.
  • The water level has movedHigher or lower than it usually sits.
  • A question about the routineSomething you have never been sure about.

How to keep a simple record of changes

What the assessment covers

The assessment is how the right routine is chosen. Its outcome is a clear scope, not a sales list.

  • The pool’s current conditionWhat it looks like now and what has changed recently.
  • The equipment in placeWhat is installed, so the routine fits it.
  • Access and timingHow a visit works on your property and when it suits.
  • The agreed routineFrequency and tasks, written down before the first visit.

Outside the routine unless agreed
